Introducing: Escape Presets – Lightroom Presets for Travelers
I’ve said it before: I cheat at photography. Oh yes, I LOVE taking LOTS pictures during my travels but – would I stay in manual mode during a walking tour of Paris? Absolutely not. Enter: Adobe Lightroom. There’s absolutely no other photography hack (or blogging hack, for that matter) as critical to getting incredible shots as Lightroom. My workflow is simple: shoot on the go then edit in Lightroom later.
Since adopting Adobe Lightroom into my workflow almost 2 years ago, I’ve learned the in’s and out’s of the program and the editing style that I find most appealing. Great photography is certainly subjective but to my eye nothing beats vibrant, light-filled images that emit joy and wanderlust! Over the past few months I’ve been working on creating beautiful Lightroom presets that will allow YOU to apply this same editing style to your images – with a simple click of a button!
Without further ado, I present: Escape Presets, a portfolio of 12 beautiful Lightroom Presets especially designed for travelers!
Note: For the examples below, the original image is on LEFT, the image after the preset has been applied is on RIGHT. No other changes other than the preset were made to the images! Literally, just one click of the mouse.
1 | Annecy
intended for aiding high contrast shots, opening up shadows & warming tones
2 | Bruges
a heavy dose of vibrance, bold pops of blue & natural exposure
3 | Cassis
wakes up the shadows with warmth resulting with an organic but dreamy finish
4 | Heidelberg
a flash of zing to create an audible POP to your shots! did someone say DRAMA?
5 | Innsbruck
cheeky and multi-purpose, works well for low light shots and lends at hand in brightening whites
6 | Killarney
superb for high-contrast or for giving gloomy overcast days a charge of color and spunk!
7 | Lisbon
bold colors, bright light, an ideal workhorse for turning dull to daring!
8 | Nerja
a go-to in my lightroom toolbox, brightens and cheers in one fell swoop!
9 | Oxford
adds clarity for a quick cleanup along plus a burst of color
10 | Paris
as multi-purpose as it gets, the Paris preset does a number on shadows and color, resulting in a gorgeous but natural shot. My personal fav!
11 | Santorini
a healthy dose of dreamy tones ideal for blissed-out skies and blue hour!
12 | Venice
adds a colorful snap to shots and works to bring back highlights and details that would otherwise be lost
While creating and tweaking these presets over the past few months I’ve done a LOT of research on the Develop module of Lightroom – far, far beyond the Basic panel. The presets are not simple boosts of vibrance and exposure, like some other presets out there do, instead they each consist of custom Tone Curve, Split Toning, and HSL/Saturation settings which result in extra special and extra gorgeous images!
