Yay, America! One year ago today I celebrated the 4th in DC surrounded by all my favorite girlfriends, sweaty humidity and my new fiance. Today I’m in Salzburg, Austria, with one of my besties while my husband parties in Chicago.
July 4, 2013 was one of those super-awesome-perfect days, here’s what went down:
an All-American greasy-burger lunch at Sequia with my galfriends on the Georgetown waterfront
cruised down the Potomac aboard a PIRATE ship for a windy, boozy, afternoon of beer and blaring Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” and sunshine
met with Dan, Stuart and the rest of the gang on the Key Bridge to watch DC’s infamous firework display
Whatever today’s schedule has in store for you, I hope it’s a nice blend of the following:
1. your favorite people
3. aggressive Red, White and Blue apparel
4. an American beer
5. either a sparkler for one or a fireworks show for a million
6. a big high 5 to a guy or gal that’s currently serving or has served
7. a juicy burger and fries
8. the sounds of Skynard or Springsteen in the air
I will happily proclaim that no matter where I travel or live, the good ole USA will always be my favorite. I’m so happy that we have a day to rejoice in our great nation and all the opportunity it provides and represents.
God Bless the USA!
