The Final Day of the Riviera Rendezvous // Cap D’Ail & Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France
The first day was just as scenic and beautiful as the last. During my girl’s trip to the French Riviera last year we lucked out on just about everything – clean Airbnb‘s, sunny and mild weather, fantastic grocery story rose, soft and addictive baguettes and cheese, and when I politely asked a boat driver if he would be willing to give us a harbor tour if we paid him he didn’t just oblige, he took us on a boat cruise for free!
To save our pennies, we opted to spend a few nights in Cap D’ail, just outside of Monaco for the final few nights of our week. While the hike up and down to the beach was a Stairmaster workout, the rocky shore and dramatic peaks were breathtaking and aided us in quickly forgetting about our burning thighs. The Airbnb we choose offered sweeping views of the coastline and access to stunning infinity pool. While the wifi was really spotty (lots of dangerous leaning over the balcony to catch a better signal) we were pleased with the space. I took advantage of the views to snap lots of pics of my pretty friends, practicing portrait photography and having fun pretending to be a fashion photographer.

On our last night we drove down to Villefranche-Sur-Mer for dinner. As we approached we were squealing over the views (well, maybe it was just me squealing) it’s no wonder Elton John and Madonna have estates here. The town transmits true glam and beauty that makes the French Riviera so exotic and special. After parking and racing (again, it was probably just me racing) to the harbor for the sunset we made our way to the main dock to snap pictures. A nearby motorist offered to take the shots for us while he waited for his guests who were dining nearby. Without hesitating, I quickly asked him if he’d be willing to give us a harbor tour… sometimes begging works in these instances, as I learned in Sicily. I expected him to reply with a steep hourly charge. Instead he smiled, said he had nothing else to do and invited us abroad. We cruised around the harbor for thirty minutes, oohing and ahhing over the mega-yachts while Robin Leach commentary played in our heads. It was surreal.
Closing the book on our French Riviera tour we didn’t hold back as we ordered dinner at a breezy cafe in town. Crab guacamole to start, mussels, rose (of course!) and crepes to finish.
While editing these pictures I wanted to quickly show you the AMAZING power of Adobe Lightroom. I couldn’t live without it! Want to know what I’m doing to amp up my pics? Email me: margo@theoverseasescape.com and I’ll add you to my super not-so-secret list of Lightroom insiders! In the next few weeks I’ll be hosting Google hangout classes on how the magic is done. 😉

Cheers to ladies-only trips! If you haven’t had been one lately then listen to me, your virtual blog buddy, you should go on one this year! (HERE are some ideas on where to go!)
A big thank you to Alex, Ashley and Tara for letting me be a paparazzi during their vacations. I can’t promise it won’t happen again! 😉 LOVE YOU GALS!
