Taking Stock: June 2014
This weekend was busy- Ikea, World Cup matches, and de-cluttering up a serious storm. Not too busy to take a nap everyday, of course. It is summertime after all, let’s not get too crazy. Here’s a fancy little rundown on life in Heidelberg lately:
Instagramming | (1) my loving little companion, Stuart (2) watching the Germany v. Ghana game at the Beach Club in Heidelberg (3) World Cup fever on the streets of Heidelberg- I love all the patriotism (4) sporting serious German garb (and a face tat) for the match (5) settling back into cobblestone reality after 2 weeks in the States [follow along for more photos and daily updates here]
Making | Art! More specifically, this cool multicolored herringbone piece.
Cooking | Cereal. My solo summer has quickly proven that cooking just isn’t as enticing when it’s only for one. Furthermore, cereal is darn delicious and I have no qualms including at least a small serving with every meal. #postweddingdietdelights
Drinking | Wine schorle (sounds like “shore-la”) a mix of white wine and water or club soda, refreshing, delicious and nutritious (one of those adjectives might be wrong…). I’m also loving these handy-dandy drink apps from Nicole at Treasure Tromp.

Wanting | This beautiful summer weather to never end. My favorite temp (you know the one where you don’t feel anything at all) has been in full swing since returning to Germany.
Looking | At hotels in Zadar, Croatia for an impromptu trip Labor Day weekend all thanks to RyanAir and a super cheap flights (90E pp).
Playing | With Stuart and teaching him new tricks! Last night over Skype I showed my parents and grandparents his latest accomplishments while they all chanted and cheered. He is, without doubt, the favorite child/grandchild.
Missing | My family and friends in the States. Within 48 hours of getting married, surrounded by all my favorites, I was on a flight back to Germany alone. Womp, womp. Thank goodness for Stuart and wine.

Wishing | That my bestie would hurry up and get here so we can go gallivanting in Austria over the long 4th of July weekend!
Enjoying | The sunshine – today the sunrise was at 5:19AM and sunset at 9:35PM. Yay for Vitamin D.
Waiting | For our wedding pictures and video. Only one week has passed and we’re expecting it’ll be two more, heavy sigh.
Liking | These uber-helpful travel photography tips by Casey (True Colours). Such great advice!
Loving | My new wedding band. 🙂 (It’s only been one week since Dan and I tied the knot, bear with me!)
Pondering | If I should make the switch to WordPress. Really, is it work the hassle?
Considering | Driving to Colmar, France this weekend for a solo getaway.
Watching | The World Cup (and you should be too)! Patriotism and energy like the Olympics but I actually understand all the rules. I love it.
Hoping | That the summer will fly by so I can see my new hubby again. August 12th can’t come soon enough.
Marveling | At the beaches in Boracay, Philippines posted by Amanda (Living in Another Language). If only SE Asia were just a smidge closer…
Needing | Furniture and decor for the patio. I’d give anything for a Target right now, anything.
Smelling | Black coffee. Every morning. A leftover from my intense wedding diet that has stuck around, it may taste like gasoline but I love it.
Wearing | This past Saturday night, Germany’s colors (black, gold and yellow), but this Thursday it’s red, white and blue allll the way. In case you’re not aware, the US plays Germany for the Group G qualifier. It’s a biggin!
Gorging | On carbs. I went from a no/low carb diet to an only-carb diet within a matter of a week. Life is glorious. Speaking of, excited to make this super simple bruschetta pasta by Wander to Wonder.
Craving | Another visit to one of my favorite cities in world – Charleston. I absolutely love Mariah’s (Food, Booze and Baggage) hand-dandy Charleston Jauntful guide.
Admiring | Annie’s (Montgomery Fest) beautiful post about Fes, Morocco.
Sorting | Everything. Our storage cellar, the crap under the bed, even the pantry. I’m on a sorting tirade.
Buying | Ikea merch to aid with all that sorting and sprucing!
Bookmarking | This post by Yes and Yes with 7 creative off-beat post ideas. Perhaps this very post looks familiar?
Opening | Wedding cards. Shame on me, but I didn’t actually read the pre-written text on cards until recently. Seriously, what a difference. I’m sure I’m not the only one, right?
Giggling | at 21 Jump Street, the Channing/Jonah combo is hysterical and, obviously, Channing melts my heart.
What’s shaking on your end?!
